Learning at home (or beyond the classroom) is an essential part of good education. Regular homework is important as it gives students the opportunity to practice at home the tasks covered in class, and helps the students work towards improving important skills. It also helps children and young people to become confident and independent in their learning which will help throughout their time at school and in adult life.

Homework therefore enhances student learning, improves achievement and develops student study skills and as such is an integral part of the curriculum. It requires careful planning and integration into schemes of work of each curriculum area. It can also contribute to the development of the home-school partnership, allowing parents / carers to have an input into their children’s’ education through active engagement and support.
